Golden gleaming drop up in the sky,
Chandra, luminous, creator of the night.
Scheduler of rituals, he’s dazzlingly white,
Shining full on Purnima his intoxicating light.
Fair and youthful, a doe-eyed peaceful one,
He’s passion-filled and watery, a cool-rayed silver one.
God who stores the waters and actuates the rain,
Lord of the vegetation, he waxes and he wanes.
God, King Soma, a friend to all the world,
He’s a bliss-filled wanderer, all dressed in white and pearl.
From the tears of Atri Rishi, in joy he was born,
He’s the ruler of all the oceans, he’s God in a lunar form.

Namami shashinam somam shambo murkata bushanam
Om chandraya namah Om som somaya namah.
