Joined with joy, he’s a god with golden eyes,
Stealing the hearts of the learned and the wise,
Bestowing great brilliance, he shines with Vedanta,
Son of Tara the star and Chandra the Moon,
He is very dear to Soma.
Mounted on a lion, one with radiant form,
His home is in the coconut, he’s the ruler of the north.
Self-luminous, bewitching, subdued—a gentle one,
Glorious, agreeable, a modest proper one.
True friend, the awakener, Lord of speech and mind,
Remover of impurity, he’s a god whose face is kind.
God worthy of praise with prayer and sacred rites,
Worshiped by Indra, an ornament of the night.
Bestowing liberation, a joyful happy one,
Free from fear and passion, he’s a tranquil blissful one.
